Products Overview

Our Low Creep High Alumina Brick series is a dense refractory product family engineered for the hot blast stove and hot air furnace of small and medium sized blast furnaces. The product is manufactured from special grade aluminum bauxite clinker as the main raw material, supplemented by special additives, and processed through high pressure forming and high temperature firing, giving a refractory brick with the characteristics of large heat storage capacity and small creep rate.

The Low Creep High Alumina Brick product family is offered in six DRL grades (DRL70, DRL75, DRL80, DRL65, DRL85, and DRL48) covering an Al2O3 content range of 48% to 85% and a refractoriness range of 1750 to 1790 °C. The DRL75 and DRL80 grades offer the best creep behaviour at 1450 to 1500 °C under 50-hour load tests, making them the recommended grades for the combustion chamber and dome zones of the hot blast stove. The DRL65, DRL85, and DRL48 are reference grades for cost-effective lining design in intermediate and cooler lining zones.

Sourced from our Xinmi City, Zhengzhou, Henan, China facility, each Low Creep High Alumina Brick is engineered to ASTM, GB/T, and ISO refractory standards. Product Applications

Low Creep High Alumina Bricks are dense refractory bricks manufactured from special grade aluminum bauxite clinker, engineered for the hot blast stove and hot air furnace of small and medium sized blast furnaces. The product family covers six DRL grades (DRL48 to DRL85) covering an Al2O3 content range of 48% to 85% and a refractoriness range of 1750 to 1790 °C, allowing the metallurgist to match each lining zone to the optimal combination of refractoriness, creep behaviour, and cost.

Application Industry: Refractories for the Steel Industry and the broader Metallurgical Industry.

Target Equipment: Hot Blast Stove (Cowper stove) of small and medium sized Blast Furnaces.

Specific Lining Zones: DRL70, DRL75, and DRL80 are the creep-rated workhorse grades for the combustion chamber, dome, and upper checkerwork of the hot blast stove. DRL65 is the intermediate grade for the sidewalls and upper checkerwork. DRL85 is the highest-Al2O3 option for the hottest dome zones. DRL48 is the cost-effective grade for the lower checkerwork and cooler lining zones of the hot blast stove lining.

Product FAQ

A1: Low Creep High Alumina Brick is manufactured from special grade aluminum bauxite clinker as the main raw material, supplemented by special additives and processed through high pressure forming and high temperature firing. The result is a refractory brick with large heat storage capacity and small creep rate, suitable for small and medium sized blast furnace supporting hot blast stove.

A2: A Low Creep High Alumina Brick uses special grade aluminum bauxite clinker and is supplied in the 48% to 85% Al2O3 range (DRL48 to DRL85). Compared with a Low Creep Mullite Brick, which uses synthetic mullite and is supplied in the 56% to 72% Al2O3 range (DRM56 to DRM72), the Low Creep High Alumina Brick covers a wider Al2O3 range (48% to 85%) and includes the highest-Al2O3 reference grade DRL85. The Low Creep High Alumina Brick is the preferred grade for the hot blast stove and hot air furnace of small and medium sized blast furnaces.

A3: The Low Creep High Alumina Brick is mainly installed in the hot blast stove (Cowper stove) of small and medium sized blast furnaces, including the combustion chamber, dome, sidewalls, and checkerwork. DRL75 and DRL80 are recommended for the combustion chamber and dome, DRL70 is the workhorse grade for the upper checkerwork, and DRL65, DRL85, and DRL48 are used in the intermediate and lower checkerwork zones.

A4: Yes. The standard size is 230 x 114 x 65 mm, but CH Refractories is a turnkey refractory engineering partner: we can manufacture any brick geometry (wedge bricks, key bricks, sidewall blocks, throat bricks, checkerwork bricks) to match the buyer's refractory drawing. Please send the drawing to our engineering team in Xinmi City, Zhengzhou, Henan, China for a free consultation, free 3D design, and a tailored quotation.
