Products Overview

Our Castables for Iron Runner are low-cement and ultra-low-cement castable products manufactured from dense corundum, brown corundum, high-quality bauxite, and high-quality silicon carbide as the main raw materials. The product family is engineered to deliver high-tap iron flux with good thermal-shock stability, strong erosion resistance, and excellent scour resistance in the harsh Iron Runner and slag skimmer service environment.

The Castables for Iron Runner product family is offered in four TGKJ grades (CH-TGKJ-70, CH-TGKJ-65A, CH-TGKJ-65, and CH-TGKJ-60) covering an alumina content range of 60% to 70% and a silicon-carbide-plus-carbon content range of 8% to 20%. The CH-TGKJ-70 grade is the alumina-rich workhorse for the main runner and slag skimmer. The CH-TGKJ-65A grade has elevated silicon-carbide content for the slag line of the iron runner. The CH-TGKJ-65 grade targets the branch of the iron runner and the iron runner itself. The CH-TGKJ-60 grade is the cost-effective option for the slag runner.

Sourced from our Xinmi City, Zhengzhou, Henan, China facility, each Castables for Iron Runner is engineered to ASTM, GB/T, and ISO refractory standards. Product FAQ

A1: Castables for Iron Runner is manufactured from dense corundum, brown corundum, high-quality bauxite, and high-quality silicon carbide as the main raw materials, using low-cement and ultra-low-cement castable technology. The product is engineered to deliver high-tap iron flux with good thermal-shock stability, strong erosion resistance, and excellent scour resistance, applicable to the iron ditch of large and medium-size blast furnaces for on-site casting and prefabrication.

A2: CH Refractories offers four grades of Castables for Iron Runner. The CH-TGKJ-70 grade has alumina content of 70 percent or higher and silicon-carbide-plus-carbon content of 15 percent or higher, optimized for the main iron runner and slag skimmer of large-size blast furnaces. The CH-TGKJ-65A grade has alumina content of 65 percent or higher and SiC+C content of 20 percent or higher, designed for the slag line of the iron runner. The CH-TGKJ-65 grade has alumina content of 65 percent or higher and SiC+C content of 8 percent or higher, targeting the branch of the iron runner. The CH-TGKJ-60 grade has alumina content of 60 percent or higher and SiC+C content of 15 percent or higher, suitable for the slag runner.

A3: Castables for Iron Runner are installed by on-site casting or prefabrication, and are tested at 110 °C for 24 hours and 1450 °C for 3 hours for their Cold Crushing Strength and Modulus of Rupture. After 110 °C for 24 hours, the Cold Crushing Strength is 5 MPa or higher and the Modulus of Rupture is 20 to 30 MPa depending on grade. After 1450 °C for 3 hours, the Cold Crushing Strength reaches 6 to 8 MPa and the Modulus of Rupture reaches 25 to 35 MPa. Permanent Linear Change after 1450 °C for 3 hours is plus or minus 0.8 percent.

A4: Yes. CH Refractories offers custom formulation and grain size optimization against the buyer's specific iron runner, slag skimmer, and slag trough design. Please send the runner geometry drawing, operating conditions, and slag chemistry to our engineering team in Xinmi City, Zhengzhou, Henan, China for a free consultation, on-site technical support, and a tailored castable formulation proposal.
