Water-Free Patching Mixes for Blast Furnace
Application Industry: Refractories for Steel Industry
Application Equipment: Blast Furnace Cooling Stave, Furnace Shell, and Bottom Cover Plate
Size: 100 percent passing 1.5 mm or 1.0 mm sieve (per grade)
Products Overview
Our Water-Free Patching Mixes for Blast Furnace are refractory patching compounds manufactured from electric calcined anthracite and high-quality bauxite clinkers bonded by phenolic resin, with specialty curing agents added. The product is engineered to fill up the gap between the blast furnace cooling staves and the furnace shell, and the gap between the bottom cover plate and the carbonaceous ramming layer, delivering easy construction, full gap filling, good integrity, and high strength after low-temperature curing.
The Water-Free Patching Mixes for Blast Furnace product family is offered in two grades (CH-WYLB and CH-WYLD) covering a wide chemistry range. The CH-WYLB grade is the alumina-rich option with alumina content over 92 percent and low iron oxide content under 2 percent, designed for filling the gap between the blast furnace cooling staves and the furnace shell. The CH-WYLD grade is the carbon-rich option with carbon content over 80 percent and lower bulk density, designed for filling the gap between the bottom cover plate and the carbonaceous ramming layer.
Sourced from our Xinmi City, Zhengzhou, Henan, China facility, each Water-Free Patching Mixes for Blast Furnace is engineered to ASTM, GB/T, and ISO refractory standards. Product FAQ
A1: Water-Free Patching Mixes for Blast Furnace is manufactured from electric calcined anthracite and high-quality bauxite clinkers bonded by phenolic resin, with specialty curing agents added. The product is engineered to fill up the gap between the Blast Furnace Cooling Stave and the Furnace Shell, and the gap between the Bottom Cover Plate and the Carbonaceous Ramming layer, offering easy construction, full gap filling, good integrity, and high strength.
A2: CH Refractories offers two grades of Water-Free Patching Mixes for Blast Furnace. The CH-WYLB grade is the alumina-rich option with alumina content over 92 percent and iron oxide content under 2 percent, designed for filling the gap between the Cooling Staves and the Furnace Shell. The CH-WYLD grade is the carbon-rich option with carbon content over 80 percent and lower bulk density, designed for filling the gap between the Bottom Cover Plate and the Carbonaceous Ramming layer. Both grades require low-temperature curing at 110 deg C for 24 hours.
A3: Water-Free Patching Mixes for Blast Furnace are cured at low temperature of 110 deg C for 24 hours. After this curing cycle, the mix achieves its designed cold crushing strength of 10 MPa or higher and the modulus of rupture of 4 MPa or higher for the CH-WYLB grade. The flowability of 140 percent or higher allows for full gap filling in tight Blast Furnace geometries.
A4: Yes. The standard grain size is 100 percent passing 1.5 mm sieve for CH-WYLB or 1.0 mm sieve for CH-WYLD. CH Refractories offers custom formulations and grain size optimization against the buyer's specific Blast Furnace gap geometry. Please send the gap dimension drawing and operating conditions to our engineering team in Xinmi City, Zhengzhou, Henan, China for a free consultation and tailored formulation proposal.
