Products Overview

Our Waterless Taphole Clay is a refractory taphole mud manufactured from corundum, alumina-silica based materials, SiC, and coke as the main raw materials, bonded by resin. The product family delivers good filling-up, easy installation, easy sintering, easy opening, and good erosion resistance under the harsh Blast Furnace Taphole service environment.

The Waterless Taphole Clay product family is offered in four PN grades (CH-PN20, CH-PN25, CH-PN30, and CH-PN35) covering an alumina content range of 20% to 35% and a consistent silicon-carbide-plus-carbon content of 25% or higher. The CH-PN20 grade is the baseline alumina option optimized for small and medium-size blast furnace tapholes. The CH-PN25 grade targets large and medium-size blast furnace tapholes. The CH-PN30 and CH-PN35 grades deliver elevated alumina content for the most demanding large blast furnace taphole service.

Sourced from our Xinmi City, Zhengzhou, Henan, China facility, each Waterless Taphole Clay is engineered to ASTM, GB/T, and ISO refractory standards. Product Applications

Waterless Taphole Clay is a refractory taphole mud manufactured from corundum, alumina-silica based materials, SiC, and coke, bonded by resin. The product family delivers good filling-up, easy installation, easy sintering, easy opening, good erosion resistance, and excellent thermal-shock stability under the harsh Blast Furnace Taphole service environment.

Application Industry: Refractories for the Steel Industry and the broader Metallurgical Industry.

Target Equipment: Blast Furnace Taphole of small, medium-size, and large Blast Furnaces.

Specific Application Zones: The CH-PN20 grade is the baseline alumina option optimized for the taphole of small and medium-size blast furnaces. The CH-PN25 grade targets the taphole of large and medium-size blast furnaces. The CH-PN30 and CH-PN35 grades deliver elevated alumina content for the most demanding taphole of large blast furnaces. All four grades deliver good filling, easy opening, and stable iron mouth service, ensuring high-yield Blast Furnace operation and reducing the working intensity in front of the furnace.

CH Refractories is a Waterless Taphole Clay manufacturer in China, Henan, Zhengzhou. The complete Waterless Taphole Clay product family is manufactured in our Xinmi City, Zhengzhou, Henan, China facility to ASTM, GB/T, and ISO refractory standards. Product FAQ

A1: Waterless Taphole Clay is a refractory taphole mud manufactured from corundum, alumina-silica based materials, SiC, and coke as the main raw materials, bonded by resin. The product family delivers good filling-up, easy installation, easy sintering, easy opening, and good erosion resistance and thermal shock resistance. The mud plays an irreplaceable role in ensuring stable and high production of the blast furnace, improving the working strength and environment before the furnace, and prolonging the service life of the Blast Furnace.

A2: CH Refractories offers four grades of Waterless Taphole Clay. The CH-PN20 grade has alumina content of 20 percent or higher, designed for the taphole of medium or small-size blast furnaces. The CH-PN25 grade has alumina content of 25 percent or higher, suitable for the taphole of large or medium-size blast furnaces. The CH-PN30 grade has alumina content of 30 percent or higher, optimized for the taphole of large blast furnaces. The CH-PN35 grade has alumina content of 35 percent or higher, the highest-alumina workhorse grade for the most demanding large blast furnace taphole service. All four grades maintain silicon-carbide-plus-carbon content of 25 percent or higher.

A3: Waterless Taphole Clay is tested at 200 °C for 24 hours for Bulk Density, and at 1350 °C in coke-bed conditions for Crushing Strength and Permanent Linear Change of CH-PN20 and CH-PN25 grades. The CH-PN30 and CH-PN35 grades are tested at 110 °C for 24 hours for Crushing Strength. Bulk Density reaches 1.8 to 2.10 g/cm³ depending on grade, Crushing Strength reaches 2 to 3 MPa, and Permanent Linear Change is plus or minus 1 percent at 1350 °C in coke-bed.

A4: Yes. CH Refractories offers custom formulation and grain size optimization against the buyer's specific blast furnace capacity, taphole diameter, and operating habits (including tap frequency and iron flow rate). Please send the blast furnace capacity, taphole diameter, and tap cycle data to our engineering team in Xinmi City, Zhengzhou, Henan, China for a free consultation, on-site technical support, and a tailored taphole clay formulation proposal.
