Products Overview

Our Environmental Friendly Taphole Clay is a refractory taphole mud manufactured from corundum, alumina-silica based materials, SiC, and coke as the main raw materials, bonded by resin. The product family is engineered for Blast Furnace taphole service with low environmental impact, delivering good filling-up, easy installation, easy sintering, and easy opening under the harsh Blast Furnace Taphole service environment.

The Environmental Friendly Taphole Clay is one of three taphole clay grades offered by CH Refractories (Environmental Friendly, Waterless, and Water-Based), distinguished primarily by binding agent and alumina content. The Environmental Friendly Taphole Clay uses resin as the binding agent, the Waterless grade uses tar, and the Water-Based grade uses water. The Environmental Friendly Taphole Clay grade delivers alumina content of 27 percent or higher, silicon-carbide-plus-carbon content of 30 percent or higher, and moisture content below 0.5 percent, giving the highest density and lowest moisture in the taphole clay family.

Sourced from our Xinmi City, Zhengzhou, Henan, China facility, each Environmental Friendly Taphole Clay is engineered to ASTM, GB/T, and ISO refractory standards. Product Applications

Environmental Friendly Taphole Clay is a refractory taphole mud manufactured from corundum, alumina-silica based materials, SiC, and coke, resin-bonded. The product family delivers good filling-up, easy installation, easy sintering, easy opening, low erosion, and excellent thermal-shock stability under the harsh Blast Furnace Taphole service environment.

Application Industry: Refractories for the Steel Industry and the broader Metallurgical Industry.

Target Equipment: Blast Furnace Taphole of small, medium-size, and large Blast Furnaces.

Specific Application Zones: The Environmental Friendly Taphole Clay is used for blocking the Blast Furnace taphole, ensuring stable and high production of the Blast Furnace while reducing environmental impact in the cast house. The resin-bonded chemistry with moisture content below 0.5 percent delivers improved environment in front of the furnace, supporting high-yield Blast Furnace operation and reducing the working intensity in front of the furnace.

CH Refractories is an Environmental Friendly Taphole Clay manufacturer in China, Henan, Zhengzhou. The complete Environmental Friendly Taphole Clay product is manufactured in our Xinmi City, Zhengzhou, Henan, China facility to ASTM, GB/T, and ISO refractory standards. Each batch is supported by free consultation, on-site technical support, and a dedicated engineering team serving Refractories for the Steel Industry customers across the global iron and steel value chain.

Product FAQ

A1: Environmental Friendly Taphole Clay is a resin-bonded refractory taphole mud manufactured from corundum, alumina-silica based materials, SiC, and coke as the main raw materials. The product family delivers good filling-up, easy installation, easy sintering, easy opening, and good erosion resistance, with the environmental friendly advantage of moisture content below 0.5 percent delivering improved environment in front of the furnace. The product plays an irreplaceable role in ensuring stable and high production of the blast furnace.

A2: CH Refractories offers three taphole clay grades distinguished by binding agent. The Environmental Friendly Taphole Clay uses resin as the binding agent and offers the highest alumina content of 27 percent or higher and silicon-carbide-plus-carbon content of 30 percent or higher with moisture below 0.5 percent. The Waterless Taphole Clay uses tar as the binding agent with moisture below 0.5 percent. The Water-Based Taphole Clay uses water as the binding agent with moisture content of 18.0 percent.

A3: Environmental Friendly Taphole Clay is tested at 1350 °C for 3 hours for Bulk Density, Cold Crushing Strength, Apparent Porosity, and Permanent Linear Change. After 1350 °C for 3 hours, Bulk Density reaches 1.60 to 2.20 g/cm³, Cold Crushing Strength reaches 8.0 MPa, and Apparent Porosity is 35.0 percent or less. The product maintains high alumina and silicon-carbide-plus-carbon content delivering strong erosion resistance in the Blast Furnace taphole service.

A4: Yes. CH Refractories offers custom formulation and resin bonding optimization against the buyer's specific blast furnace capacity, taphole diameter, and environmental requirements. Please send the blast furnace capacity, taphole diameter, and tap cycle data to our engineering team in Xinmi City, Zhengzhou, Henan, China for a free consultation, on-site technical support, and a tailored taphole clay formulation proposal.
